Resources

  •  Students and their families have many resources available to them to help support student learning and well-being. We encourage you to visit the pages and sites available to find valuable information and tools which students can use at school and at home. Spending just one or two hours per week investigating these resources can help boost student learning.

  • YCSD has some exciting family engagement opportunities coming up this month!  Below  you will find information on five sessions available to YCSD families with elementary students:

    • I Heart Words (Grades K-1)

    - Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 6:00pm-7:00pm through Microsoft Teams

    - In this virtual session, parents/guardians will learn tips to help their students learn high-frequency words using the heart word method.

    • The Road to Reading & Writing Success (Grades 2-5)

    - Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 6:00pm-7:30pm at Yorktown Elementary School

    - This session will be hands-on as families explore strategies to help with spelling, decoding multisyllabic words, and ideas to build conversations during and after reading. Every participant will have resources and new books to take home!

    • From Learning to Read to Reading to Learn: The jump from 2nd to 3rd

    - Wednesday July 20, 2022 at 5:30pm-6:30pm at Yorktown Elementary School

    - This parent/guardian information session will provide information to help their student get ready to enter 3rd grade.

    • The ABCs of Kindergarten (Rising Kindergarten)

    - Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 6:00pm-6:45pm through Microsoft Teams

    - In this virtual session, parents/guardians will learn about kindergarten and how to support their students as they prepare to enter kindergarten in the fall. A question and answer session will also follow to provide answers and support.

    • Captivating Cards (Grades 1-5)

    - Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 6:00pm-7:00pm at Yorktown Elementary School

    - In this session, parents/guardians and students will learn various card games to improve basic math number sense and fact fluency while having fun. Every participant will have resources and cards to take home!
